DESCRIPTION
The TII 3500 Broadband Network Interface Device (BNID) is a versatile housing and will accommodate a wide variety of coaxial and copper twisted pair drop combinations. The housing will accommodate a combined quantity of 6 customer bridge and coax
service modules. The Coax Service Module (CSM) is available in a single, dual, or triple port configuration. Using RG-1 1 cable, the 3500 will accommodate up to 1 coaxial drop in combination with up to 5 copper twisted pair drops.
This device can also be dedicated to either all coaxial (accommodating up to 12 coaxial drops using RG-6 cable) or all copper twisted pair drop applications accommodating up to 12 copper twisted pair drops. (See separate data sheets.)
TII's BNID is constructed of superior materials capable of withstanding harsh indoor and outdoor environments, such as UV degradation, chemical exposure and cold temperatures, even in severe cases.
TII's BNID includes such innovative features as totally sealed protection and customer bridge modules capable of exceeding Bellcore requirements for sealed terminations. Protection modules exceed Bellcore TR-NWT-01 361 "Generic Requirements
For Gas Tube Protectors" and Bellcore TR-NWT-000975 "Generic Requirements For Unprotected Termination Devices".
TII's Broadband Network Interface Device totally supports coax drops providing straight thru or protected bulkhead connections. Each connection is situated in the enclosure to provide ample working space and to meet critical bend radius (10 times
diameter) requirements for coax cable. TII's Coax Service Module (CSM) is available with single, dual, or triple ports and |
will accommodate TII's InLine® Coax Surge Protector. This Coax Module also utilizes low cost/high performance "F" connectors and easily snaps into place. This same module will be available with fiber optic connections for future
upgrade requirements.
Top hinged covers on the BNID allows complete access to all components, and a unique detent and release mechanism provides for ease of installation and servicing. This feature also prevents the covers from falling down until craft personnel have
completed their service.
TII's unique, superior performing Customer Bridge Module (CBM) includes TII's Auto- Jack"' RJ-11 which is protected from the environment, requires no RJ-11 plug, and exceeds Bellcore requirements for first and second level power surges
resulting in unsurpassed performance not found until now. Tip and ring customer terminations can be equipped with insulated screw terminals or with IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) technology which requires no stripping of the wire insulation and allows for tool-less
termination. Each Customer Bridge Module is capable of accepting a standard RJ-11 plug for customer troubleshooting and snaps into place.
The CSM and Customer Bridge Module (CBM) share the same ground, eliminating problems associated with different ground potentials.
All internal components-protector modules, customer bridges and coax modules are completely modular allowing simple field expansion. Standard features such as customer locking/telco bypass, separate customer and telco compartments and fully
hinged covers are all part of TII's Broadband Network Interface Device. |
